The term “detox” has become very fashionable these days, and marketing specialists understand this all too well.
The term has even been used to sell vacations. So, what’s the deal with this alluring abbreviation that regularly makes the front page of women’s magazines?
The word “detox” is often used to sell products, even unsuitable ones. In reality, detoxifying the body means you’re allowing it to restore its normal functions, so you need to begin by removing fat, sugar, and alcohol from your diet. The abbreviation “detox” is urban slang for purifying your liver, kidneys and bowels by ridding yourself of pollutants, pesticides, and food additives. So, how can we detoxify? You should being by eating foods that help the liver and kidneys in their work to eliminate the undesired substances. Natural products, particularly fruits and vegetables, are good foods for this. Here’s some examples.

Vegetables

  • Cabbage is rich in antioxidants and low in calories, and it helps to cleanse the liver.
  • Carrots are rich in antioxidants, carotenoid, and minerals, facilitating the removal of toxins.
  • Celery is rich in water, vitamin C, and potassium, and it has great diuretic and depurative properties.
  • Onions contain fiber, potassium, and sodium, and they help the liver to drain.
  • Leeks are rich in water, fiber, and potassium.

Fruits

  • Lemons are rich in vitamin C, and they regulate the acidity of the body via their alkalinizing effects on the body.

The best time to detox is definitely during seasonal transitions. During this time, you should return to a natural diet and avoid processed foods and excessive fat and protein. Soothe your body and digestive system by avoiding allergenic foods, dairy products, gluten, and eggs. You should keep your body well hydrated, so think about drinking more water and alkaline drinks that are rich in minerals. Try to balance your diet, exercise well, and say yes to a healthy lifestyle.
Here’s a simple three-day detox program for you. (All products should be organic.)

Day 1–3

Morning Tea: Half a cucumber, a slice of green apple, and a slice of lemon.
Breakfast: Smoothie made from 1 cup water, 2 bananas, 1 cup raspberries, 1 Tbsp Almond butter, and 1 tbsp lemon juice.
Lunch: Smoothie made from 1 cup water, 1 cucumber, 1 cup kale leaves, half an avocado, 4 celery stalks, and 1 cup pineapple.
Dinner: Smoothie made from 1 cup coconut water, 1 cup mango, 1 cup raspberries, 1 cup kale leaves, and ¼ tsp cayenne pepper.
Afternoon Snack: Smoothie made from 1 cup water, 1 ½ bananas, 1 Tbsp lemon juice, 1 tsp cinnamon.
Water for the entire day: 3 pints of water, 1 sliced lemon, 1 cinnamon stalk.
Meditate at least once a day.
